Parker Bros Shotgun Serial Number
I just picked up a Parker Bros. SxS hammered shotgun lifter model. The serial number is 13773 which indicates it was manufactured in 1879. The only mark I can find on the watertable for Grade is the letter “U” above the serial number. The grade on Parker shotguns is a number or initials located on the water table of the frame. An alphabetical designation would indicate the grade immediately. For numerals, a '2' would indicate a GH, while an '8' would specify an A-1 Special - interpolate for the others (numbers 3 through 7).
I have a Parker Bros 12 guage double barrel shotgun. the serial# on the gun is 122343. the gun is in fair to good condition. Doesanybody have an idea of it value.

There are numerous good books on the market (although some arenow out of print) covering Parker shotguns. The internet, ofcourse, might also be helpfull. The two books I have on Parkersare. 1. 'Parker America's Finest Shotgun' by Peter Johnson,Stackpole Books. 2. 'The Parker Gun' by Larry Baer, BeinfeldPublishing. I suspect that both of these are now out of print, youmight get lucky in a used book store though. Another good sourceconcerning values and serial numbers would be the current editionof Fjestad 'The Blue Book of gun Values'. Any major book storeshould carry new copies of this pricing guide.
